Look @ Me Now Reflection
This project was about looking back at our roots through literary devices. The ten base literary devices, theme, setting, conflict, characterization, protagonist, antagonist, flashback, irony, symbolism, and foreshadowing were used to represent our lives. Connecting these devices to past or present experience to look at ourselves.
The Look @ Me Now project had its ups and downs in the whole process. The 10 literary devices and creative piece were key components of the project. Writing the 10 paragraphs were certainly interesting and challenging at the same time as looking at the present and finding past memories that are very significant to you takes a whole lot of time. Once I finished the paragraphs, I felt an itch for more of a challenge so I wrote 2 more literary devices including memories and the present me. One of the most challenging parts of the process would definitely be the creation of my final product. The sizes weren’t available and making looking professional was also a struggle.
The easiest part of the whole project would have to be the writing of my symbolism paragraph. My room isn’t very packed, it’s actually quite empty so using some electronics in my room to represent a big part of my life is very cool.
The peer review in the critique session seemed very successful. I gave great critique to the people who needed some and others responded with mine. I made it clear on the strengths so that the person whom I critiqued could improve even further.
There seemed to be a whole lot of class time spent on preparing and making our Look @ Me Now product. I feel that set expectations for great products with diversity and I think it turned out like that as most projects were unique. I spent most of the time on task and the process was completed on time with plenty of time to revise. The process of writing the paragraphs took the longest as I wanted them to be interesting as well as impactful whenever someone read it. The Final product construction was mainly worked on at home as the materials were hard to find.
I looked back at my paragraphs and I do see some errors in grammar and double words. I feel like when I’m typing something up, I tend to think really fast about what I want to say that I skip the rest of the words. I found one mistake in particular where I put every instead of everything and another one where our was spelled with out. I think that my grade should be an A because I put effort and challenged myself, I don’t know if getting spelling errors or grammar errors count when it’s in the challenge paragraphs as they were optional. There is also the reason of completely finishing before challenging yourself which I missed as there are grammar mistakes.
There is a lot to improve on when judging a final product. It should appeal to the audience instead of yourself as they are the main audience. My project overall seemed good to me and others understood what it was but there were some clueless people when it came to displaying it. It couldn’t stand up by itself and laid flat on the table which looks bad and not interesting to the eye. The product was supposed to be displayed in a 3 dimensional type of form but the paper didn’t allow that and it was displayed in a 2 dimensional form. That is what I would change if I were to repeat this project.
I learned various topics in literature as there seem to be many literary devices you can use to improve writing. There were many realizations when it comes to understanding yourself. Who I am, who is important to me, who was an influence in your life, and what you aspire to do. These are questions that I figured out when I was doing this project, I am very grateful to the people that encourage me to take that step.
