The Moral Truth

This project was mainly independent, but I integrated my fellow peers as much as I could. I got my inspiration for the short story from one of my friends in class just joking around about ideas. Kaden and I joked around about being stranded in deserts, the main character dying, and being locked in a grocery store. I finally decided to choose being locked in a grocery store with the main character dying at the end. At first, it had been a complete joke with humor as the main topic, but I wanted to try something else, something on a deeper level. If you look deeper into the meaning of the death and the situation you would question it. If the main character has a deep motive that resists the temptation and has background that you care about. It would make sense, and would be a decent story. I feel as though you can always get critique no matter how many times you change it, and that is an area where I think that could work on.
In the terms of the class learning outcomes, I feel like I did great in some aspects but not so well in other ones. Work ethic was a breeze, even though Kaden and I joked around, it was still towards the ideas of our writing at the beginning. Using my personal friends and classmates was the best use of collaboration in the sense that I received great feedback from them. Oral communication at the exhibition was shown when I explained my book in a way to make it seem interesting, I feel as though I could’ve explained it better and displayed lights to make reading it easier. Written communication was a huge problem for my story. It was littered with some grammar errors and the main problem was run on sentences. The idea of it was pretty good, and fixed most of it in my final. I did a solid job on content in my story. I choose to do the challenge option, which was to write a short story, 9 poems, as well as write a personal essay.
I have learned and improved upon many of the class values in this certain project. I have demonstrated empathy for my character in my short story. It would be pretty unfortunate to live up on strict morals only then to die in a grocery store. Grit was shown in my short story when I received various kinds of feedback. The format of my story, essay and poems were changed a couple of times, which meant that my whole story was either changed or moved. Responsibility was a huge part of my schedule due to the challenge option which added a few more days of time onto my load. Respect wasn’t needed in this project but I include it in school days since it should be normal for everyone. The act of helping behind the scenes or integrity is the key aspect of the main character in my book, so I tried to use my character as a role model for anytime.
During exhibition, I was with my partner for Cooked to display 3 items. What we displayed were the pieces of writing that was independent, the solar oven, and the collaborative recipe. My story took the longest to explain as the backstory of it was quite deep. What I had to offer was the highest quality book that I could muster and I feel proud of it. If I had to grade myself on the terms of the class learning outcomes and the class values. I would give myself the highest grade for the class values mainly because they were to values I’d like to follow one day and the values that appear in my story. For the class learning outcomes, that grade is completely different. The reason why it is different is because I realized that my oral communication and my written communication needs work and hopefully I will be able to resolve the many mistakes I make in story writing.
